The Caracal is considered the heaviest of all small cats as well as the fastest. Standing some 40cm at the shoulders, it is the second largest of the wild cats that inhabits parts of the United Arab Emirates. The Caracal is spreads out over central and southern Africa, through some parts of the Middle East and southwest Asia; their habitats vary depending on the location within this range. They may survive without drinking for a long period of time, as they obtain their requirements from the body fluids of their prey.
Caracal is normally a nocturnal hunter, yet in colder climates the Caracal will hunt during the day. Caracals will not hesitate to kill prey larger than themselves, such as adult springbok or young Kudu. The Caracal is also well-known for being the best bird hunters amongst mammals, as their great jumping ability enable them to catch up to a dozen birds in one leap. | U.A.E - Dubai: The Desert Kingdom - 761 sec Has the construction boom in Dubai gone too far? Old timers fear the place is losing its authenticity as ski domes and shopping complexes replace pristine desert.
Dubai may be one of the hottest, driest places on earth but inside the new ski dome it's snowing. Despite having no natural water supply, Dubai manages to use more water per capita than anywhere else. Not everyone is pleased by the construction boom. "The city doesn't look the way it used to for our generation," complains one man. "We don't have a sense of belonging."
