Gli Exploited (in italiano sfruttati) sono un gruppo hardcore punk britannico, formatosi nel periodo successivo al declino del punk della seconda metà degli anni '70.
Il gruppo venne fondato dal cantante Wattie Buchan nel 1980, nel quartiere di East Kilbride (Edimburgo).La prima formazione ufficiale degli Exploited comprendeva, oltre a Buchan, Big John Duncan alla chitarra, Dru Stix alla batteria e Gary McCormack al basso. Traendo ispirazione dai gruppi punk rock della prima ondata (Sex Pistols, Clash, Damned), il quartetto estremizzò i loro concetti, creando un suond semplice e senza fronzoli caratterizzato da una grande velocità e aggressività sonora.

The Exploited werd opgericht door ex-militair Wattie Buchan (zang) en John Duncan (gitaar) in het begin van 1980. Al snel volgde Dru Stix (drums) en Danny (basgitaar). Na een tijdje brachten ze hun eerste EP "Army Life" uit. Tijdens de eerste optredens liep Wattie vaak met een Swastika rond op het podium. Daardoor werden ze vaak gezien als een fascistische band. Hun voorbeelden waren Sham 69, Cockney rejects en The Sex Pistols. Hun optredens waren vaak zeer gewelddadig en het liep vaak uit in rellen. In 1981 tekenden ze bij het label Secret en al snel volgden de albums.

Bandet startade som ett Oi!/punkrock band innan de började spela den snabbare streetpunken och kängpunken. Och från ca 1987 då skivan "Death Before Dishonour" släpptes spelade bandet en slags crossover, trash punk stil. Bandet startades i Edinburg av forne volontärsoldaten Walter "Wattie" Buchan. Bandet skrev 1981 på för Secret Records och släppte i mars sin debut EP "Army Life". Senare samma år släpptes "Punks Not Dead" som influerade många andra band att börja spela käng/streetpunk. Trots många medlemsbyten turnerar The Exploited fortfarande idag in på 2000-talet och har fans världen över. Bandet sägs även ha även grundat en egen genre som kallas Chaos Punk. Grunderna för denna genre är: trashens snabbhet, kängpunkens D-takt och aggressivitet, street-, och anarkopunkens aggressivt samhällskritiska texter.

Shawn Frayne, a 28 year old inventor based in Mountain View, will talk about his wind belt. This is a power generation device, that is low cost and consists of a membrane that resonates like a guitar string, with a pair of magnets that oscillate between coils.

Speaker: Shawn Frayne
Shawn is the inventor of the core wind generator technology on which Humdinger is founded. Previous to his involvement with Humdinger, Shawn successfully matured two technologies, in the fields of "green" packaging and water disinfection, from concepts into developed products in pre-production. He established a strong intellectual property base surrounding those technologies and in early 2006 sold substantial rights to a Fortune 500 company. He is presently involved with refining the manufacturing processes of those products in facilities that have been built overseas.
He is also part of an on-going effort established four years ago at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to develop low-cost technologies by which entrepreneurs in Haiti can transform agricultural wastes into saleable cooking fuel.
Shawn has six pending U.S. patents. He has his Bachelor of Science in Physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
