Ensuite, le souvenir s'envole vers la ville balnéaire de la Goulette (banlieue nord de Tunis) jadis lieu de villégiature de la bourgeoisie commerçante tunisoise, où il est encore hanté par cette présence féminine mystérieuse et au charme ravageur. La mémoire troublée et les sens en émoi, le chanteur-narrateur ne se rappelle plus où il a rencontré exactement cette belle égérie, serait-ce au quartier chic de La Fayette...ou ailleurs ? Perturbé, il continue ses pérégrinations pour revisiter des lieux aujourd'hui délabrés et croulants, envahis par la modernité et délaissés par leurs anciens propriétaires mais dont la splendeur et le faste d'antan sont inscrits dans la mémoire collective. Lieux éthérés semblables à cette brune insaisissable et inaccessible.
La voix puissante et satinée de Bouchnak redonne ses lettres de noblesse à son art qui puise ses origines dans les traditions andalouses et ottomanes aussi bien en Tunisie que dans tout le monde arabe comme en témoignent d'ailleurs ses grands concerts qui attirent les mélomanes les plus exigeants.
Lotfi Bouchnak (لطفي بوشناق), également orthographié Lotfi Bouchnaq, né le 18 janvier 1952 à Tunis, est un chanteur, oudiste et compositeur tunisien élève de La Rachidia. Il est également ambassadeur de la paix auprès de l'ONU depuis le 12 juillet 2004 et ambassadeur honorifique du Festival de la chanson orientale à Sarajevo depuis mars 2004.
Il s'intéresse à la musique dès son jeune âge et c'est un grand admirateur de la diva égyptienne Oum Kalthoum. Il fait partie de la Jeunesse musicale tunisienne, une troupe d'amateurs au sein de laquelle il peut pratiquer le chant dont il améliore la technique plus tard avec le grand maître Ali Sriti et Mohammed Azouze.
Artiste entier, passionné, interprète audacieux du malouf tunisien, joueur d'oud inspiré, il se consacre principalement à l'exécution du répertoire classique arabe de tradition savante. En 1979, il a 27 ans quand Ahmed Sidki lui compose la chanson qui doit le consacrer comme artiste. Il enchaîne par la suite avec des artistes connus comme l'Égyptien Sayed Mekawi, l'Irakien Fathallah Ahmed et l'autre grand talent de la musique tunisienne, Anouar Brahem. Il commence sa carrière de compositeur vers le milieu des années 1980 et sa popularité grandit dans le monde arabe. La qualité et la puissance de sa voix et la force de ses improvisations font l'unanimité, ce qui lui vaut le titre d'ambassadeur de la musique arabe. Il se produit régulièrement et à guichets fermés à l'opéra du Caire depuis 1992. En 2006, il clôt le Festival international de Carthage et sa prestation est, selon La Presse de Tunisie, « un concert qu'on n'est pas près d'oublier. »
Il reçoit plusieurs prix dont le titre de meilleur chanteur arabe en 1997 à Washington. Au début des années 1990, une collaboration ponctuelle avec l'ensemble Al Kindi contribue à le faire connaître du public européen. Tags: mélomane  |
